more puke

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:43 am by letterstoelias

my plans to write the past few nights have been railroaded by another stomach bug.

sunday night C threw up in the middle of the night.  i didn’t get much sleep as i lay at the foot of their bed with a bowl at the ready.

she seemed fine all day monday.  healthy appetite.  no fever.  happy.  playing outside half the day, only to throw up again just after falling asleep. she seemed fine all day again today.  both the girls did.  eating fine.  playing.  no complaints.

now e.  the girls have never throw up as much in their lives as they have since the day you died.  are they more susceptible to stomach bugs for some reason now?

all i know is, it will likely be a night of little sleep again.  ready to spring out of bed at the slightest cough to thrust a bowl under a chin.  and tomorrow, more laundry.  and more cleaning.  quarantine.  and more feeling nauseous myself . . . . i hate cleaning puke.  and, i’ll most likely miss out on meeting baby penelope and seeing my sister as I had hoped to do on friday.

and of course, i hate to see the girls sick (even though, puke aside, they don’t seem to be)

and, while i was about to post this, she puked again.  beside the bowl.  and now c is singing.  yes.  it’s going to be a long night.

P.S.  I Love You

    Oh poor Chelsea,

As you know, I despise stomach bugs (really, who likes them). Two thoughts about bugs in general: this is Eibhlin’s first year in preschool, so she and hence Caia are getting all the bugs here that other kids get their first year in daycare.

Also, Kirk told me that March and April are the peak months for rotavirus. So….this probably does not make you feel better…. I also know that we went through the same rotating gamut of stomach bugs for a year or two, but we haven’t had one for over a year now….(knock on wood)….

I hope everyone feels better soon!

Knowing the season is a part of it does actually help some – my sister reminded me of just how sick Eibhlin was last Easter, right before Elias died, then of course immediately after he died they were hit then too (as I’m sure you remember since you did most of the cleaning . . . ).

We fortunately had a pretty peaceful day today, and they were both asleep by 7pm. Here’s hoping it’s on it’s way out soon.

  2. Sending you empathy and understanding, though a fat lot of good that does you! Hope it ends soon!
